Civil War Veteran. Co E, 98th Pa Infantry. Mustered in 20 August 1862 at Philadelphia, Pa for three years. Age 31, rank Private. Discharged 20 June 1865 under General Order #155 dated 30 May 1865. Raymond was wounded. Bates 3-487
In 1860, he was a shoemaker living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and stood 5′ 2″ tall with dark hair and gray eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he first enlisted and mustered into federal service at Philadelphia April 21, 1861, as a private with Co. E, 21st Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company August 8, 1861. He also enlisted and mustered into federal service at Philadelphia August 20, 1862, as a private with Co. E, 98th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 20, 1865. His is in the company descriptive list as “Reinmound Maier.”
He died in Lancaster County from “railroad injuries by being struck by train at Bird-in-Hand, both legs cut off.”
